Hey Folks,

Patch 1.2 is now available on the Public Test Branch which you are now able to opt into to download the very latest non-stable patches from steam. We've made every effort to ensure that it's as bug free as possible but please be aware there may still be some issues.

Now without further ado I'm sure you're interested to find out how you can get access to the PTB, read on!

War for the Overworld Public Test Branch
What is the Public Test Branch?

The Public Test Branch is a optional branch for War for the Overworld on steam where you can download the very latest Public test builds of an upcoming patch. These versions will likely contain more bugs than the final release but will be available sooner than their final counterparts.

Opting into the PTB will give you the opportunity to play with the latest changes we've made to the game if you're willing to take a few bugs head on. When participating in a Public Test build you'll be able to report bugs directly to us and help ensure that the final release is as bug-free as possible.
How to Opt-In

To Opt-in to the WFTO PTB follow these steps:
  1. Right click on War for the Overworld in your Steam Library and select properties
  2. In the properties window select the "Betas" tab
  3. Select "PublicTestBranch" from the List of Betas
  4. Close the properties
  5. War for the Overworld should now update, if it does not, open the properties window again and this time select "Verify integrity of steam cache" this will force a file check
Once the download is complete and you have launched the game you should see "Patch 1.2 PTB" as the version String.

How to Opt-out
When the final version goes live to steam you will need to opt-out of the PTB to download the final version.

To Opt-out of the WFTO PTB follow these steps:

  1. Right click on War for the Overworld in your Steam Library and select properties
  2. In the properties window select the "Betas" tab
  3. Select "None - Opt out of Betas" from the List of Betas
  4. Close the properties
  5. War for the Overworld should now update, if it does not, open the properties window again and this time select "Verify integrity of steam cache" this will force a file check


Reporting Bugs
As the PTB will be on the very bleeding edge of WFTO's development when it's active you may encounter some bugs we've yet to root out during the QA Process. If you encounter any bugs we'd love it if you could help us nail them down by simply posting a quick bug report in our PTB Bug Report forums.

To best ensure we can address the issue as soon as possible please be sure to follow the bug reporting guidelines we've laid out for bug reports!

We'll be attempting to patch the PTB regularly with updates that will be fixing reported bugs so please keep us posted.

  • VFX now plays when a wall gets unfortified

  • Dungeon Core now takes 66% reduced damage
  • Dungeon Core health regen increased from 50/s to 55/s (now regens from empty to full in 3 minutes)
  • Known issue: Existing dungeon cores (all of them) do not have resistances yet
  • Fixed crash when client sells Arena in MP
  • Beasts no longer get pulled away from rally flags by Beastmasters

  • Cores now have resistances
  • Defence parts can be used to heal defences (this is half as effective as using the Forge spell)
  • Ghouls now vanish when a Necromancer is dropped into the Gateway
  • AoE abilities used inside the Arena will no longer hit units outside the Arena (and vice versa)

  • Starting gold on C1 is now 4750 instead of 3000 so the player can afford a 3x3 Barracks and Lair without digging additional gold
  • Correct VFX is now used when unfortifying walls
