Now, I'm sure most of you have heard about this, and I'm not sure if I'm justified in posting a thread for it, but I feel it's something that everyone should be aware of. We are all so fortunate to even be able to read this, let alone have access to all the things we take for granted. I don't mean to preach, but again, I feel this is something that needs to end, and I'm happy that it's finally getting attention from the world community.

Thank you for spending the time to read this, and I pray that we can catch Joseph Kony, and that children will not have to live in fear of being murdered by a ruthless militia, or indoctrinated into it.

Again, thank you.

I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND YOU UNDERTAKE THOROUGH RESEARCH INTO INVISIBLE CHILDREN AND THEIR PRACTICES. PARTICULARLY THE INCREDIBLY LARGE PAY-CHEQUES OF THE TOP EMPLOYEES OF THE SO-CALLED "CHARITY".

THIS CHARITY HAS A SHADY REPUTATION AND IT IS CLAIMED THEY ADVOCATE SHIPPING WEAPONS INTO AFRICA. WHICH WOULD ULTIMATELY LEAD TO THE SLAUGHTER OF THOUSANDS OF INNOCENT CHILDREN.

Hold on, before we start slinging accusations, I would like to see some proof. Many websites I've checked out seem to think IC is a fantastic charity. I would just like a link to prove or disprove your theory. While this "research" is ongoing, I have removed the link. If anyone has proof, for or against, please post a comment with a link.
I would like this to be resolved quickly.
But regardless, they are raising awareness, and have even built schools, proving not all their money goes to themselves. And even if there is a "lining of the pockets" in the process, it's undeniable that they are making a difference. It's obvious that these people spend a lot of time and effort working for this, and naturally they should be compensated for their efforts. And let's not forget that they started as a group to raise awareness in the first place.
In a perfect world, all of the money would go directly to charity. But at least there is comfort in knowing they are helping more than most people are.

Don't you think that's embellishing it a bit? It's not as if the money is going towards the charity raping people. Just because they affiliate with a government with less than desirable personnel doesn't mean that they are evil. And their financials have been posted and they received a high score on charity navigator.

The money you donate goes mostly towards helping them spread the word with movies, posters, conferences, lobbies, etc. The point is for more people to know about what's going on, they never said they would provide the definitive end to it, though even then they are helping with schools and healthcare.
If there are anymore doubts, they have addressed all issues on their "critiques" page.

But if you donate or not, it really doesn't matter. The point is, I was trying to raise awareness, and if you're reading this, I have.

Well, I tried. I had nothing but good intentions at heart, and in the end it turned out that the whole thing is a scam. I really, really, hate trusting people so much. I want to be optimistic and trusting, but this damn world just makes it so hard.
But enough of my brooding. You guys were right. Upon further digging I found all the stories, all the testimonies, all the funds that didn't add up and it makes me wish I could take my money straight back.
These people make money off people's goodwill, and I fell for it.
Thank you for helping me see this. I don't suppose this thread serves any purpose, so do what you want with it.

Don't worry about it. I fell for it too, I generally don't donate to charity with notable exceptions like humble bundle. But I was feeling particularly generous that day, still, I got a pretty neat shirt out of it. Let the rape and pillaging commence I guess...

Well, see, despite the fact that some charity organizations are actually scams, and that others actually use most of the money to do things like take vacations and have parties, not all charities are this way. You just have to find the right one.

Case in point: St. Jude's Research hospital. Once I get through college and have a stable job, a portion of my money is going directly there. Why? Because St. Jude's Research hospital takes care of cancer-afflicted children and researches a cure (at least, the last time I checked, as I haven't actually kept up with the hospital since going to college). Zuriki provides another good example: The humble bundle is always there to help. Or, perhaps, you could donate and volunteer for the Red Cross. You can donate blood, because blood is always needed to keep people alive. You can do something as simple as community service, and that's going to help someone - and isn't there an organization that you can volunteer for that spends its time making homes for needy families (AND IS NOT ONE OF THOSE STUPID REALITY T.V. SHOWS)?

There's a lot of truly genuine ways to help people still. Don't let one incident break the good Samaritan spirit.

...Hehe. I can't believe we're talking about this on a forum dedicated to a game about violently overcoming the forces of good. This is why I love this world.

I would really like to give blood, but I'm always sick. I think it's probably due to lack of proper sleep though, if only there weren't so many things to do and see on the internets. :(

I would never take up any community service roles here though, I hate my local community, it's full of people I do not want to socialise with and I actively avoid them.

I do soup kitchens and stuff usually. I think I'll stick to focusing my efforts on tangible things I can affect, rather than donating, at least until I find a good charity. Donating blood is something I will definitely doing when I'm old enough.

That's only really useful if you have 0 - blood as that's the only universal blood type my mum has that which is good because I tend to do stupid dangerous things so she'll prob save my life one day haha, Donating bone marrow is also good but I wouldn't as I'm an athlete and I need all my blood & guts for myself :). When I die if my organs are still useful other people can feel free to strip my carcass of any good tissue and organs WHY? because I'll be dead and therefore have no use for them simply logic.

On topic PumpkinKing you obviously have a good heart but you also are obviously very young and naive, I grew up in South Africa and I KNOW all about Africa & the shit that always goes on there this KONY crap is NOTHING NEW! This shits being going on in at least 15 other African nations http://www.africasunnews.com/wars.html for the better part of the last 25 - 30 years that's right even if you get rid of KONY there will be another evil prick who will rise up and take his place YOU CANNOT CHANGE THIS! it's the reality of life in their world as much as it sucks it's just the way these people are and the way their countries function.

To stop this crap from happening you would need to basically send every single standing army in the western world! to those nations THEN you would have to pump trillions of dollars into those nations in terms of infrastructure, education, medical, roads, ect. Nevermind how much it costs to fund and supply and army! Seriously this endeavor would bankrupt the entire western world every country including our own! & send us into the exact same state as they are HOORAY for farting against thunder!

It's unfix-able so forget about it ignore it pretend it doesn't exist rather save your money and help your OWN family and friends when they need it or better use it to improve your OWN country / state / neighborhood ;)

Or if you REALLY want to save the world:
