If I launch it from steam, I get a black window without sound but wfto icon which can't be closed. If I kill WFTO and WFTO.x86_64 via killall then steam won't let close itself, because it thinks WFTO is still running.

After that steam updated itself... and I could reproduce it again.


When I start the generated script via console, I get a menu less game with sound as if I would have run the original binary.

I have replaced the script with the original binary and tried it again. The steam update didn't fixed the sound.

Hmm, well - it sounds like there's some other library that presents an incompatibility. Would you mind trying to edit that script to have this instead?:

That's what I was talking about doing (but without modifying Steam). So in your case (because I didn't know which library you had, you would link liborc-0.4.so.0.0.17.0 into "${HOME}/.steam/steam/SteamApps/common/War For The Overworld/lib/liborc-0.4.so.0". If that works then that's something that can be fixed without requiring users to make modifications.

I double checked that the script is making it working: If steam launches the binary directly there is no sound.

Hmm, are you sure Bumblee works with anything? Have you tried glxgears with it?
Quite sure it works. I cannot try glxgears, because it's not available for Ubuntu 13.10 - at least I have not found how to get them. But I have downloaded and tested the Unigine Valley benchmark. It does not even run without optirun. I may post you the output, maybe you get something from it:

The parameter does not matter, the output is the same. The output is the same even when I try "optirun chromium-browser" - nvidia doesn't get enabled (I have checked that with "cat /proc/acpi/bbswitch"). If I check while Unigine Valley is running, nvidia is enabled.

1) You can try both Steam and the terminal. You can launch from the terminal like so:

3) You should be able to... Is that 32-bit chromium? (won't work without 32-bit optirun)

regarding to 2 - I cannot test it since I have no 32 bit Chrome - if it helps You, I can install it, I just don't see any reason...
No, if it was not clear I was trying to say that you need the 64-bit chromium unless you run with the 32-bit optirun command (with all the appropriate 32-bit libraries). What happens if you go to the "chrome://gpu" page when you launch chromium like this?:

EDIT: wait, I've just found there are some stuck WTFO processes in my system from previous testing. I've came to that because nvidia is ON (watch cat /proc/acpi/bbswitch). I'll try to kill them first.

I'm not sure that I can be of much help then, my Google-fu has failed us. Maybe try going to a chromium support forum and see about getting things working under chromium first? CoherentUI uses chromium to do the rendering, so it might be best to get chromium working on its own first.

Hmm, I couldn't believe that, so I just gave it another shot before going to sleep now - killing/closing all the stuck WFTO processes and also closing all instances of Chromium first. Now I get it working! Look:

Great! Now that I can work with. Please (without the game running) execute "ps -A | grep CoherentUI_Host". If there are any coherent processes running then execute "kill $(ps -A | grep CoherentUI_Host | cut -d' ' -f 1)" to stop them. After this you should be able to try editing the CoherentUI_Host file to say:

primusrun "$HOST_DIR/CoherentUI_Host.bin" --ignore-gpu-blacklist "[email protected]"
(like we talked about earlier) I didn't think about this before, but it's probably also important to use primusrun on the WFTO process. So, from the terminal:

primusrun "${HOME}/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/War For The Overworld/WFTO.x86_64"
or if you change the Steam launch options it would be "primusrun %command%".

Edit: It might be worth sending me a new log (... -logfile "${HOME}/wfto-debug.log"), it's always possible that you're hitting a different bug once primus is working.
