Bedrock Beta v0.2.4 “Two Spooky Four You”

Known issue: Some users are only seeing some of the menu (and not being able to interact with it or load a map) when starting up the game. Please see this thread for more information and potential solutions.

New Unit: Necromancer
Master of the undead, the Necromancer will raise the souls of fallen enemies into wicked Ghouls who heed his every command.
  • Necromancers are attracted to your dungeon by building both a Crypt and an Archive
  • Necromancers are able to summon Ghouls in the Crypt using the souls of the recently deceased
  • Necromancers will work for you in the Archive
  • Picking up a Necromancer will also pick up any Ghouls that are bound to him

New Unit: Ghoul
The shambling, mindless Ghoul will fight any enemy that the Necromancer targets
  • Ghouls are summoned by Necromancers in the Crypt using the souls of the recently deceased
  • Once summoned, Ghouls are bound to their master and will follow them around at all times
  • Ghouls do not eat, sleep, gain experience or feel any emotion, and cannot be picked up by the player
  • If a Necromancer dies, his Ghouls will become ‘feral’ and attack anything nearby until a new Necromancer (of any faction) claims them
  • There are 3 different Ghoul models, one of which is vastly more handsome (but don’t tell the others)

New Room: Crypt
The Crypt will allow you to store the souls of fallen friends and vanquished foes.
  • The Crypt is in the Greed tree, and requires either the Treasury or Summon Worker spell to be unlocked before it is available
  • The Crypt (surprisingly) costs 100 gold per tile
  • The Crypt contains ‘Soul Pyres’ which are used to trap the souls of the recently deceased, used by Necromancers to summon Ghouls
  • Workers will drag corpses to the Soul Pyres
  • Each Soul Pyre can store up to 3 souls

Unit Levels & XP
Your units can now level up! As they mercilessly slaughter your foes, they will increase in strength and be able to mercilessly slaughter even more foes!
  • Units can gain experience up to level 5
  • Units gain experience by using abilities in combat
  • Each level will increase various stats by 20% (to be balanced properly at a later date)
  • Unit level is indicated on their shield

Misc Features & Improvements
  • The Veins of Evil can now be closed by right-clicking anywhere on the screen
  • Hand selection has been improved, it is now much easier to grab & slap units with smaller hitboxes
  • Slapping is now 200% more satisfying (VFX and sound have been added)
  • Items (gold piles and defence parts) can now be picked up and dropped by the player
  • Underworld Gateways now animate
  • Richard Ridings has made some new friends and will talk to you less
  • Escape will now close the pause menu
  • The game is now 27% spookier
  • Extended tooltips have been added
  • Optimized memory usage in several systems
  • Unit spawning has been improved: Units will now only spawn when the rooms they need exist, and Beasts will no longer spawn at a ridiculously high rate

Bug Fixes
  • Micropiglets are no longer considered enemies
  • Minions unable to satisfy their needs will no longer give up on life
  • Hitting backspace will no longer break the game in various horrible ways
  • Dungeon Theme corrected in My Little Dungeon and Hunger Games
  • Minions who are slapped to death are now more obedient and will correctly play their death animation
  • Hand animations should no longer play unnecessarily
  • When building rooms, the highlight will no longer persist if you cannot afford some tiles
  • Hitting escape on the victory or loss screens should no longer break everything
  • Units no longer freeze if they cannot reach a Rally flag

Great patch! I smirked at various patch notes above like

"Minions who are slapped to death are now more obedient and will correctly play their death animation"

or

"There are 3 different Ghoul models, one of which is vastly more handsome (but don’t tell the others)"

:D
