Name: Terraform (to terrain type, each terrain type being a new kind of spell)
Keeper spell

Stats:
Blood Cost: dependant on distance from claimed tiles, and dependant on what tile is being converted to what. example: dirt to water or the other way round will be cheap. Claimed tiles get a discount no matter the distance.
charge up projects an area from 1 tile, to 9 then to 16 and each one hikes up the cost exponentially.
Cant be cast on a tile that has a creature in it. Will not affect permanent rock like the map edge. Will not affect gold.

Cooldown: a good 5minutes cool down.

Information:
This turns a square into another type.
1: Dirt 2: rock 3: water 4: lava 5: gold?

Function: This spell is to allow a player to mold a dungeon around them more efficiently over time, repair damages and rectify mistakes with dig designations. if a 5th spell: turn tile to gold. is used, then it will act as a way of converting blood into gold for the player at a late on stage in the game.

Icon: a earth, water, gold or fire symbol above a picture of the terrain type.

Appearance: the spell looks alot like the effects of a cave in spell from DK2. upon casting, or map tremors -another suggestion- if formation of water/lava.

Depends on the mechanism, some terrain types would be unchangeable.

Ide suggest an exponential cost increase with distance from the dungeon heart with small bonuses to decrease cost with tile ownership.-and having opponent tiles be immune to this affect-

Since it would only be tiles normaly navigatable by the players minions, theirs no real danger of affecting the barebones of a maps design. Even then, if the water and lava suggestion (for change into) are considerd a bit too annoying, the spells could be limited on some maps (Their was a thread about relics, so, relic spells? good way to limit the spell types).

Not to mention it would get prohibitive in cost if you wanted to change a large section of terrain far away from your dungeon. You could also put in a condition that it cannot be cast on the dungeon hearts surrounding squares -up to 1 tile- and that access to the heart by foot must be maintained for creature spawning.

Im all for this spell. It would require extensive ballancing though. Can you suggest any situations that youd like to solve by using this spell? I mean ingame examples of mechanics. With all these prohibitive costs implemented.

Cool down length would be an annoying feature for when your trying to do allot of stuff, but i can imagine it not being anything other than a small annoyance so, good way to limit its use.

Ide suggest solutions as:
Special terrain and room combo requirements, (like water next to lair tile) to attract creatures.
The ability to Wall off inroads to buy time for your dungeon against invaders who dont have imps or dwarven diggers. Customising a defensive feature like turning a rooms worth of area infront of your dungeons front gate into magma or water.

Small petty mistake in dungeon design? Fixable. Creation of sealed off rooms? Doable. -though of course your sacrificing defensive redundancy and creature room use by doing so, a good last ditch effort to gather forces to repel invaders-

Create gold: Maps low in gold, only around a relic structure would be a good way to limit it. say up to 5 blocks in all directions.

Create dirt: Ability to destroy hero passages/make a customizable land bridge over water.

Other ideas of limiting it: Sequential spell types. Ie:
Water only to dirt.
dirt to rock or magma or water or gold (special case).
Rock to gold (special case) or dirt or fortified wall Or (if other suggestions about hard rock implamented) turned into hard rock.
Hard rock only back into dirt.

I got that idea...water lair tile...but then I realized, that water is not claimable - so you cant build lair in shallow water or so (for some extra creatures)...

Just leaving that idea here, so anyone can kick in and add.
