I'm pretty sure we sacrificed the person who was supposed to answer that topic about sacrifices.....the gods were pleased with the sacrifice but we were not rewarded with WFTO being out tomorrow....somebody needs to talk to these gods....

I can't possibly express my excitement for the unveiling of what is to come.. I fell in love with DK2 and since then I have been anxiously anticipating what was next. I was pretty heartbroken when i found out that dk3 production had stopped but to hear it is back in progress and in very capable hands!? You guys are going to give me a heart attack :p keep up the good work

Hey folks,

So, it’s about time we started talking again, and we have quite a few things to say.

Firstly, I’m extremely happy to announce that Subterranean Games has teamed up with RiSE Gaming for the development of War for the Overworld. RiSE is a group of indie developers who were interested in producing a similar game, but instead of starting a competing project they reached out and offered to collaborate with us instead.
The bottom line is that production speed of WftO has significantly increased, and we have a far larger team of talented individuals working to make this game as good as it possibly can be.

Secondly, I’d like to announce that from here until our next major milestone we will be posting an update every two weeks starting today (it may be a few days early next time if we decide to do a different day of the week). These updates will contain general development news, the occasional reveal, Q&As, contests, and other tidbits.

For this post we have something quite special - the revamped versions of two units we’ve spoken about a little bit in the past: The Juggernaut and the Cultist.


For those unfamiliar with this Empire unit, the Juggernaut is a bulky warrior inside an incredibly large suit of armour. On his own, he is the most resilient normal unit in the game and is able to withstand a huge amount of punishment before being defeated. He specialises in disrupting enemy attacks and mitigating damage from his allies.


And for those unfamiliar with the Cultists, they are the human followers of a dark, ancient religion focused around the Underlords. They are physically incredibly weak, and will be easily beaten by almost any unit in single combat, but they shine when it comes to larger battles with their wide array of support-based spells.

Code wise, everything is progressing very well. The core systems are coming along nicely and we are currently investing a method that could allow players to create practically infinite sized maps (Minecraft style) - this will need some testing but so far it is looking promising. Overall, the switch to Unity has been very smooth and we couldn’t be happier.

Lastly, I’d like to thank everyone that has stuck with us through this quiet period. We know who you are (if you have registered that is...) and we will find a way of rewarding you for your dedication.
Impressive improvements guys :) Look forward to seeing more.. Can we get an update on some audio, dialog or music in the game. Media tab has been the same since forever :p ???

Hey, Maltesers nice too see you around again. A number of people have asked the same question. When we post news we like to give a indepth view of that given topic such as the Juggernaut, but our current main focus right now is the games functionality and art assets. That dose not mean we have not started on the audio tho. Ambient, lava, chasm along with the Blood imp have been done to a extent, they may or may not be the finished result for the end product.

We should have a some type of news on the state of audio around early-mid November at the latest.

Me and my (Mrs in particular) are into voice acting etc (shes been in a short film and has applied for other work over the internet lol), if we can pitch in at all with our New Zealand (NOT AUSTRALIAN) accent voices OR if there are any quick things you want designed for what ever we are keen and all ears. Would love to see my work somewhere in this project, Im a lot more free these days, as my contract with the full time company I used to work for has ended.
I was contacted by some of those who unfortunately left this project, they asked for my help with stuff they were doing, I said id help where and when I can being the helpful, cheerful and kind dude I am, but I havnt heard anything from them in like forever due to what looks like time zone issues.. I mention this because they shared a lot of the notes from the older project and I can only begin to imagine how much you guys have yet to do.. Anything to get the ball moving along even quicker... no?? lol and NO, thats not why I have been away! I am not the all mighty betrayer I am probably making myself out to look like by saying alot of this.. I only talked to them once or twice if you really wanted to know, dam time zone had me up around 10 and 12pm trying to catch them via Skype. Lame and more lame, but anything to attempt to create a extra possibility of getting my name out there. I have offered to this project as well ya know, was just to dam busy to commit :\

HEY! That logo looks really striking on the rocky background like in the video, suggest putting that texture on the banner/background of this forum in replacement of the whiteness Mr Web man (if it allows you to make those kinds of changes) ? My eyes burn looking at this forum at night ... 27inch LED 10/100,000,000 contrast ratio (very white) and all :confused:
